Recently we helped sponsor a Charity Carp Angling Match to help raise money for a family in Ruskington, Lincolnshire whose two-year-old daughter Alana was diagnosed with leukaemia last December. Luke and his Team Primal syndicate managed to raise over £1,300 for the good cause. I asked Luke Burch, co-organiser of the event to let us know how the event went.
“The Woodland Waters carp were trying their hardest not to fall for the anglers hooks, and they did quite well, with only a few of them gracing the nets. It was an amazing and fun filled weekend, and with great characters, good banter was at an all time high”.
Luke co-organised the event after pal, Tommy Porter contacted him to ask if they could help organise it in aid of the family. With anglers fishing for either 24 or 48 hours, entry fees went towards the cause, and a cake stall with raffle prizes from a variety of sponsors topped things off along with a contribution from the owners of Woodland Waters in Ancaster.
Commenting on the two-day event, Luke said “The anglers crowned victorious were as follows”:
48 Hour Winner
Steve Williamson with a total weight of 35lb 5oz, this won Steve a long weekend to Smallwaters, a fishing trip in the south/west of France.
24 Hour Winner
Luke Burch with a total weight of 13 lb 08 oz, this won Luke a 4 day pass to Wagtail fishery.
Luke, however, got a little more than he bargained for when team mates gave him a celebratory ducking to go along with his prize!
“Thank you to everyone who participated, donated and sponsored this event, all our effort has paid off, and I am sure Alana would be very grateful to everyone, so all this has been very worthwhile. Team Primal would recommend Woodland Waters to beginners and more advanced anglers alike, it really does cater for everyone’s needs. Until the next one, thank you. Carp Will Rise!”
Well done to Luke and the Team Primal lads for putting on a great event for a very deserving cause.
