Icey Session

None Go Bye Farm, 17th February 2015 by Mr Shippo

Fished first peg on left hand side of the island on main lake, tried maggot on waggler, had one tiny roach but didn't land it as I was holding my brew. Tried corn and pepperami on the bomb, but got no interest at all. Also tried zig as a few fish were topping, had 2 indications, probably liners but something had a pull. Fed margins with corn and tried that later on but nothing. Changed to swim stim amino original 6mm on the waggler. Fed 5/6 every few minutes, missed 3/4 bites and landed 2 decent skimmers. Lake was almost an inch thick with ice despite temperatures increasing over past few days. There were a few anglers who turned up but left due to the ice. Be warned, I have called the farm shop before making the journey a number of times and was told that the lake was free from ice only to turn up and find it like a skating rink. The owner will break up the ice in the boat. But they should be honest from the outset, 4 of the guys who turned up left with a full refund due to the ice and they had phoned to check in advance and again were told it was not iced over.

The bottom lake is undergoing some work to clear the silt and they are also adding a few features. This gave me a chance to have a look around and check out the profile of the lake whilst empty.

I will be there again this weekend now we have had a spell of decent weather, hopefully there will be an improvement.
